Enhancing vocational training using Virtual reality .

Project scope

Uganda’s vocational sector faces persistent challenges such as limited training equipment, infrastructure gaps, and insufficient practical exposure for learners. Through virtual reality, we are able to help students train in environments they cannot access and use equipment they normally would have no access to.

Through Development of localized VR modules aligned to the NVQF, enhancing practical training in vocational institutions through immersive simulations.

Specific Objectives:

  1. Create interactive, localized VR content in seven thematic areas aligned to NVQF.

  2. Provide learners with access to realistic, hands-on training environments without reliance on expensive tools and machinery.

  3. Build instructor capacity to effectively use and integrate VR into teaching.

  4. Ensure compatibility across VR devices (Oculus, Pico) and optimize for institutional infrastructure.

  5. Establish sustainable mechanisms for long-term adoption and scale-up.

  6. Deploy VR modules via a centralized distribution platform, allowing each VTI to manage its own content access and usage.
